Service Migration

Migrating your service to ScarceHost with the Pterodactyl control panel is a seamless process that ensures minimal downtime and disruption to your online presence. Whether you're transferring a single service or multiple, this guide will walk you through the steps required to successfully migrate your services to ScarceHost.

Step 1: Backup Your Service

Before initiating the migration process, it's essential to create a backup of your service files, databases, and any other relevant data. This ensures that you have a copy of your service in case anything goes wrong during the migration process.

To create a backup using Pterodactyl:

  1. Log in to your old service control panel.
  2. Navigate to the "File Manager" section.
  3. Select the files and directories you want to migrate.
  4. Download these files to your device.

Alternatively, you can use an FTP client to download the files of your service.

Step 2: Transfer Your Backup to ScarceHost

Once you have created a backup of your service, you'll need to transfer it to your ScarceHost account. You can do this using the following methods:

  1. FTP Transfer: Use an FTP client to connect to your ScarceHost account and upload the backup files to the appropriate directory.
  2. File Manager: You can use the File Manager within Pterodactyl to upload your backup files directly.

Step 3: Update Your DNS Records

Once you have restored your backup, you'll need to update your DNS records (if applicable) to point to your ScarceHost server. This ensures that players can access your service from the new hosting environment.

To update your DNS records:

  1. Log in to your domain registrar's control panel.
  2. Navigate to the DNS management section.
  3. Update the A record to point to the IP address of your ScarceHost server.

Step 5: Test Your Service

After updating your DNS records, it's important to test your service to ensure that everything is working correctly. Check for any issues that may have occurred during the migration process.

Remember that DNS records will take varying amounts of time to propagate depending on location. There are online tools to check for the IP your domain is pointing to.
